Don’t Grow Weary

I hope the verses from yesterday really made an impact in your day. Not by might nor by power…

We have a tendency to burn the candle at both ends, too many projects, overcommitted and not enough rest. That’s where I find myself today. I’m asking you to pray for me today because I am weary. I woke up this morning feeling like I could spend the whole day in bed. My body wanted more rest.

Have you ever been there?

So the first thing I did was tell the Lord I needed more strength. And I hope that today would be the day to get a nap. And then this verse came to mind.

“Dear friends, you must never become tired of doing right.” II Thessalonians 3:13 CEV

Another translation words this verse “But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.”

And there’s another verse in Isaiah that I really take to heart on day’s like today.

“Even young people get tired, then stumble and fall. 31 But those who trust the Lord will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.” Isaiah 40:30-31 CEV

I’m already feeling stronger and more ready to start my day! God’s word is like good, nourishing food to my spirit. It’s amazing how reading these Scriptures brings strength.

If you’re feeling like I was this morning – a bit tired and weary – take time to put today’s verses into practice. Add to them yesterday’s verse and let the Spirit of the Lord carry the load. This is where we find rest!

“Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest. 29 Accept my teaching.[a] Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest. 30 Yes, the teaching that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ERV

The Sky Is Limitless

For quite some time I have wanted to share the lyrics of an old song with you but first I want you to study this picture.

Please look again. Consider how vast are the ocean and sky. They fill the horizon – all that’s visible are water and sky.

This song  was written  in 1917,  some say it was written in 1923, the author was Frederick Lehman. He was trying to conceptualize the greatness of God’s love. Perhaps he had just read these verses written by the Apostle Paul.

I ask the Father with his great glory to give you the power to be strong in your spirits. He will give you that strength through his Spirit. 17 I pray that Christ will live in your hearts because of your faith. I pray that your life will be strong in love and be built on love. 18 And I pray that you and all God’s holy people will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ’s love—how wide, how long, how high, and how deep that love is. 19 Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with everything God has for you.

20 With God’s power working in us, he can do much, much more than anything we can ask or think of. 21 To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus for all time, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:15-21 CEV

Verse 18 is a verse that I have studied often. Each time I think I am beginning to understand the greatness of God’s love, my scope of understanding is expanded and I realize that I still have so much to truly comprehend.

Paul prayed that we would know, be able to grasp and fully understand the scope and vastness of God’s love. That type of understanding can only come through personal experience. Through that personal, daily, consistent experience with Him, we can be filled with everything God has for us.

Now for the words of this wonderful song that written about 100 years ago. It’s not important that you know the tune, what’s important is the message.

  1. The love of God is greater far
    Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
    It goes beyond the highest star,
    And reaches to the lowest hell;
    The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
    God gave His Son to win;
    His erring child He reconciled,
    And pardoned from his sin.

    • Refrain:
      Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
      How measureless and strong!
      It shall forevermore endure—
      The saints’ and angels’ song.
  2. When hoary time shall pass away,
    And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
    When men who here refuse to pray,
    On rocks and hills and mountains call,
    God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
    All measureless and strong;
    Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
    The saints’ and angels’ song.
  3. Could we with ink the ocean fill,
    And were the skies of parchment made,
    Were every stalk on earth a quill,
    And every man a scribe by trade;
    To write the love of God above
    Would drain the ocean dry;
    Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
    Though stretched from sky to sky.

God’s love is measureless and it’s eternal. If the oceans were filled with ink, if every tree on earth was used as a pen and every person on earth were a writer the magnitude of the sky could not begin to contain a complete record of God’s love.

I’m not talking about God’s love for all of human kind. No, I’m referring to God’s love for us individually. If God, my Father, were to write a testament of His love for me there would not be enough GIG space to contain it all, it would dwarf the heavens.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father will comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. God loved us and gave us through his grace a wonderful hope and comfort that has no end.” II Thessalonians 2:16-17 CEV

Take time to look up at the sky. Imagine you see written across the heavens “I love you”.  That’s really the message God’s wants us to know.

Prayer Requested

For the past weeks I have been writing a book which will be published in time for Christmas.

Today we will be making some of the final edits and I ask that you pray for us as we finish up.

And now, brothers and sisters, pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s teaching will continue to spread quickly. And pray that people will give honor to that teaching, the same as happened with you.” II Thessalonians 3:1 ERV

This is a project the Lord put on my heart early in the year. It is a 30-Day Devotional for the month of December. Each day will be a short teaching on a gift that the Lord has given us. There is also a practical application at the end of each day’s readings.

At first, I thought this would just be something that I would give to my family and close friends but the Lord let me know I was thinking too small.

 Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 AMPC

With the help of my friend, Rob, I learned about self-publishing and the opportunity for new authors to have their books sold on Amazon. I will let you all know as soon as it is available on their site.

Today I need your prayers as we put the finishing touches on the manuscript. There are still a couple of small formatting tweeks that need to be made and a final read-through.

My desire is that those who read the book will be drawn into a closer relationship with the Lord. I want the world to know that our Heavenly Father is the Master Gift Giver and He loads us up with good and perfect gifts.

Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same. 18 God decided to give us life through the true message he sent to us. He wanted us to be the most important of all that he created.” James 1:17-18 ERV

Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah” Psalm 68:19 NKJV

Thank you for your prayers. Now I’m off to finish things up. Blessings to you all.

God’s QR Code

We are all getting more and more familiar with those QR codes that let us scan them with our smart phones and be taken directly to a website. You know they are those boxes with all the maze-like lines on the back of magazines, in printed ads and on products.

I was going to use an image of one with my blog this morning but I didn’t want everyone scanning some random code.

I remember the first time I was asked to scan one while in I was in one of my favorite stores in Tucson.  If I scanned the QR code they gave me a free gift. I didn’t  have a smart phone at the time so I couldn’t use it but they gave me the gift anyway.

That made me think – I should have a spiritual QR (Quality Relationship) code that I can scan to be taken directly to Father’s Website.

Oh wait, I do. It’s called God’s word. And many of us can now access it from our computers, tablets or smart phones.

What do I want to be my home page – something that will remind me daily of my relationship with the Father. Something like…

“Remember, in Noah’s time I punished the world with the flood. But I made a promise to Noah that I would never again destroy the world with water. In the same way, I promise that I will never again be angry with you and say bad things to you. 10 “The mountains may disappear, and the hills may become dust, but my faithful love will never leave you. I will make peace with you,
and it will never end.” The LORD who loves you said this.” Isaiah 54:9-10 CEV

or maybe

“Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with what you have. God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never run away from you.”
6 So we can feel sure and say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
People can do nothing to me.” Hebrews 13:5-6

or even

“Christ died for us when we were unable to help ourselves. We were living against God, but at just the right time Christ died for us. 7 Very few people will die to save the life of someone else, even if it is for a good person. Someone might be willing to die for an especially good person. 8 But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us.” Romans 5:6-8 CEV

I want these verses to be forefront in my heart. They remind me that God isn’t angry with me – He’s not in a bad mood. He is always extending His love to me and desiring His best for me. Even when I fail, He has promised not to remember my sins.

“This is the agreement I will make with my people in the future, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts. I will write my laws in their minds.” 17 Then he says, “I will forget their sins and never again. 18 And after everything is forgiven, there is no more need for a sacrifice to pay for sins.n remember the evil they have done. ” Hebrews 10:16-18 CEV

“God our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope. We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father  will encourage you and help you always to do and say the right thing.”                          II Thessalonians 2:16-17

I encourage you to scan God’s QRcode today. It will bring you to a terrific website and there you will find wonderful free gifts that will last forever.

The Eternal Love of God

Have you ever had a hard time believing that you are loved? I have!

If that’s where you are today or where you have been I want to share some verses on God’s love with you. I know I have shared some of these before but we can never have too much love. Agree?

“Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 ERV

Do you see that – NOTHING! Nothing now or in the future can separate us from the God’s love. Absolutely nothing.

“We were weak and could not help ourselves. Then Christ came at the right time and gave His life for all sinners. 7 No one is willing to die for another person, but for a good man someone might be willing to die. 8 But God showed His love to us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 NLV

You might think that the things in your past or even in your present make you unlovable but God sees more than our actions and our failures and He sees someone He loves. He has loved us at our worst and He loves us just the same at our best. His love is unconditional!

Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride. 5 Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone. 6 Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth. 7 Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things.

8 Love never comes to an end.” I Corinthians 13:4-8 NLV

Love was and still is God’s plan. It’s who He is. Love isn’t a emotion that comes and goes. Love isn’t goose bumps and tingles. Love is God!

“The person who tells of Him in front of men and says that Jesus is the Son of God, God is living in that one and that one is living by the help of God. 16 We have come to know and believe the love God has for us. God is love. If you live in love, you live by the help of God and God lives in you.” I John 4:15-16 NLV

God desires to always be here for us, providing us with comfort and encouragement, He gives us hope. He isn’t out to condemn us!

Our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father loves us. Through His loving-favor He gives us comfort and hope that lasts forever. 17 May He give your hearts comfort and strength to say and do every good thing.” II Thessalonians 2:16-17 NLV

When we accept His wonderful gift, Jesus Christ, as our Savior we receive a new life free of condemnation. We’ve talked about this in days past God chooses to forget our sins and put them as far as the east is from the west. We are forgiven.

“So now anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty. 2 That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you free. It made you free from the law that brings sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2 ERV

It is impossible to pen the words that can adequately express the love that God has for us. It is written in every book of the Bible – in fact, the Bible is God’s love letter to us. So I will end with a prayer that Apostle Paul recorded – it was his prayer us and it is my prayer for you.

“I pray that Christ will live in your hearts because of your faith.

“ Ephesians 3:17-20 ERV

God loves you and so do I!
