Thankful for Beauty

Aren’t you glad that we don’t live in a gray world? I am!

I heard a preacher teaching once about the beauty of creation. He said, “what if God had created everything to be gray – light, medium and dark gray”. How boring and unimaginative that would be. All things in nature are meant to bring glory to God.

The vastness of the mountains, the colors of the plumage, the minute details of a snowflake and the brilliance of the blossoms all point to the amazing creativity of our Father.

If God has invested this much thought into the cultivation of nature, how much more time does he invest in us, we who He created in His image?

I don’t have the space to do a complete teaching of the Psalms that I am sharing with you each morning so I ask that you please take the time to read them for yourselves. Let the Holy Spirit enlighten you to the wonderful blessings we have because of our relationship with the Father.

This morning I will be sharing a few verses with you from Psalm 103:

“With all my heart I praise the Lord, and with all that I am I praise his holy name! With all my heart I praise the Lord! I will never forget how kind he has been. The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and protects us from death. His kindness and love are a crown on our heads. Each day that we live, he provides for our needs and gives us the strength of a young eagle.” Psalm 103:1-5 CEV

In these five verses I am able to find more than three things to be thankful for. Things to include in my gratitude journal. Reasons for praising and giving thanks to the Lord are his kindness, forgiveness, healing, protection and His love.

In one version this Scripture says “He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases” – that alone is reason to give Him thanks. He crowns us with his love and kindness, provides for our daily needs and gives us strength.

Amen and Amen!

We just completed two weeks of doing our fall cleaning and purging things we haven’t used in a long time. All this culminated in a three day garage sale – let me say, each day I was thankful for the “strength of a young eagle”.

This psalm has a total of twenty-two verses and the Lord’s blessings are woven into each verse.

The Lord brings justice to those who are mistreated; His love never fails, He is patient. He doesn’t give us what we deserve instead He removes our sins far from us. He is a loving Father – He keeps His promises.

Included in these verses is reference to our limited lifespan compared to His everlasting love and faithfulness. We are only here for a short time but God’s promises to us last forever.

“At the Lord’s command, flowers and grass disappear, and so do we. Flowers and grass fade away, but what our God has said will never change.” Isaiah 40:7-8 CEV

This psalm begins and ends with praise. We should start and end our days with praise.

“All of God’s creation and all that he rules, come and praise your Lord! With all my heart I praise the Lord!” Psalm 103:22 CEV

Let’s thank the Father that He created more than just gray and thank Him that His word will never change.
